American Migrations 1765 - 1799 |
A
native of London, he resided in MD for more than 18 years having gone there
in 1763 to settle. He was clerk of the council in
MD, Register of the Chancery Court, Clerk of the Courts of Appealand of the
Upper House of Assembly. From all of these posts he was dissmissed by the new
administration. He was always loyal and applied to the Governer of MD for a
passport to enable him to go to British lines in New York but it was refused.
He was therefore compelled to take a circuitouse route via St Croix in the
West Indies and did not arrive in england untill January 1782 having spent
nearly £100 for his passage - Claim for loss of Salary etc......more |
