Notes |
- Richard Brook is mentioned in Parish Recrods in 1768 as being Richard Brook the younger [?] of Walkeringham Church Warden
1768, March 12.-Richard Brooke of Baildon, yeoman, son and heir of Thomas Brooke, yeoman, deceased, who was the surviving trustee of the messuages, lands, &c., belonging to the Chapel, appointed as new trustees.......
Richard Brooke the younger, of Walkeringham, Notts, schoolmaster,
Parish Records in 1742 we have Richard as son of John and the Will of Richard @ Walkeringham does indicate this is correct.
So is John the son of Richard son of Thomas ? and they refer to Nephew as Richard Brook the younger so as to distinguish him from an Uncle ? or is their another Richard Brook not identified ?
Jeremiah Brook is also mentioned [not yet identified].
'Also two closes in Baildon, called the Shaw Close and the Long Piece, containing 22 acres, then in the possession of Jeremiah Brook'
Note:
The Thomas Brooke here referred to appears to have been the survivor of the set of trustees mentioned in the deed of August 27, 17 I 9, [ ante, p. 181 ]. The property vested in him as survivor would descend to his son Richard as heir-at-law, and Richard here appoints new trustees and conveys the property to them. The deed gives the first list we have of the Church property.l
