- I was advised by this person's Grand Daughter that James Rufus Brooks was orphaned at age 10 and then Adopted name changed to James Louis Barton.
They told me the source was an original Birth Certificate but did not provide this as evidence.
I looked at the tree they supplied and could not positively identify who Oscar L Brooks was. On Ancestry there are two Oscar L Brooks one died 1926 [the one in this tree] and the other 1954. Both unfortunately then claim the same Parents, some of the trees then become mixed up and have different first names for their respective Ancestors ?
It is doubtful James R Brooks is the son of Oscar L Brooks - DNA provided no Brooks DNA matches as James R Brooks was born only 3 months after the wedding took place - some trees do indicate this as fact - but again there is no further evidence who his actual father was.
